Plast and Pack Pakistan Exhibition 2013
Wells Plastics and Simpexco participated in the 11th Plast & Pack Pakistan Exhibition held at The Expo Centre Lahore, Pakistan from 5th – 7th September 2013. This was the first time Wells has taken part in an exhibition in Pakistan and it was seen as an important opportunity for the many visitors to the stand to learn more about ReverteTM Oxo-biodegradable technology which offers controlled degradation of a number of commonly used polymers in the packaging industry such as polyethylene and polypropylene. This is especially relevant in view of the new legislation in Pakistan (the “Prohibition of Non-degradable Plastic Products (Manufacture, Sale and Usage) Regulations, 2013”) which prohibits the import, manufacturing, stockpiling, trade, supply, distribution, sale and use all disposable plastic products made wholly or substantially of polyethylene or polypropylene or polystyrene - unless they are oxo-biodegradable. ReverteTM is being distributed throughout Pakistan by Simpexco which, based in Karachi and established since 1982, has grown into one of the most reputed and diverse indenting and trading companies in Pakistan. Simpexco is already well known for importing and supplying raw materials to various industries including the plastics industry in Pakistan. John James, Export Manager of Wells who travelled to Lahore to attend the exhibition was delighted with the results of the company's participation. He said "we expect to see Pakistan develop into a very important market for ReverteTM during the next year and beyond and we were very pleased to welcome many interested potential customers onto the stand during the event". Zyad Khan, Director of Simpexco commented that “the ReverteTM OXO-BIODEGRADABLE stand was one of the most prominent of the whole exhibition and large numbers of people from the plastics and packaging industries visited our stand expressing their keen interest in our product. The exhibition was inaugurated by provincial minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment Mr. Chaudhry Muhammad Shafique, who during his visit to our stand showed his immense pleasure on the launching of ReverteTM in Pakistan which according to him would be a great help in fighting the plastic waste problem created by poly bags”.
