Wells Plastics 30th Birthday Celebrations
On Friday 6th of June 2014 at Wells Plastics Limited Headquarters in Stone, Staffordshire a gathering for staff and local guests was held to celebrate the 30th Birthday of the Company in beautiful sunshine. Wells is a specialist additive masterbatch producer for the polymer industry and employs 42 people at the business. Wells provide materials for the plastics industry which modify the plastic and impart certain properties such as protection from UV degradation, reduction in static build up or even antibacterial properties. The company currently supplies one of its specialist products, ReverteTM worldwide to over 50 countries; ReverteTM produces an ‘oxo-biodegradable’ effect reducing the impact of plastic litter in the environment making it ultimately biodegradable over time and it use can be found in many supermarket carrier bags and packaging films across the world.
Wells were delighted to have the Rt Honourable Bill Cash MP on site to unveil a commemorative plaque and join other guests on a tour of the facilities including the laboratory and manufacturing plant. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss Wells’ export ambitions and the benefits of some of the technologies the company has developed for UK manufacturers and users, as well as the larger global market. An interesting discussion ensued on the current issue of the carrier bag tax and the appropriateness of ReverteTM for the proposed exemption for a biodegradable carrier bag Commenting on the Event Stuart Law, Wells Financial Director said:“It’s fantastic for us to mark this special 30 year anniversary. Through innovation and the continuous development of new products, Wells Plastics have become a truly global business, exporting to over 50 countries worldwide. We have come a long way since 1984.
